30th September 2014 marks the 2nd Anniversary since I recommitted Grannie’s bottle, and committed my Yorkshire connection’s bottle to the ocean east of Eden, southern NSW.
I hope that my 2 bottles are safely navigating their way across the Pacific, albeit sadly minus a GPS tracker …..
WHAT HAS HAPPENED SINCE THEN ?
In mid -July 2013, my Bottle Overboard story appeared as a You Tube under the title Anne’s Adventure.
In March 2014, I met a published author in Kogarah Library. He later reviewed my You Tube. I indicated to him that I would like to turn it into an ebook; he kindly gave me some valuable advice. On April 29 2014, I joined an ebook club.
MY NEXT ADVENTURE
In mid- 2012, when I was deciding where to recommit Grannie’s bottle to the ocean, I spoke with some Bass Strait fishermen.
I chanced upon Geoff, a fishing operator out of Port Welshpool, Gippsland in Victoria. Geoff has a contract to take PHD students from a Melbourne University to the bottom of Wilsons Promontory to complete fur seal research.
In Geoff’s words “he takes the clean-shaven students, along with supplies down to the island, and brings back the bearded and unkempt students back to civilisation, after a few weeks. There are no huts or running water on the island, so the students have to live in tents and rely on their supplies.”
Decline the generic levitra india myth- Many of women or men find their partners the only reason of happiness. They appear as high achievers to the outside world, but deep inside they actually feel unloved, hurt and guilty. cheap brand cialis browse around now While not originally online cialis intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. You will be surprised to know that the concerned tablets start acting within thirty minutes cialis canada online of their consumption and continue up to two consecutive days.
Geoff and I have remained in contact since mid-2012, sometimes speaking to each other perhaps every 3 -6 months. We have hilarious conversations for two people, who have never met …… He tells me that” he reads my blog, so he knows what I am up to! “ “Creating mayhem is usually my response to Geoff “
I plan to accompany Geoff and the university students on a future visit to the bottom of the Prom. Geoff and I have agreed, that we will go out into Bass Strait, and put a bottle overboard. We want to see if it washes back in to shore, and onto a Victorian beach.
My initial bottle, when put to sea south of West Cape Howe, Western Australia on April 19 2012, remained in the Southern Ocean for approximately 32 days . It washed back in, and was found on the beach by a Perth fisherman at Bremer Bay, Western Australia.
In early July 1996, I had the opportunity to fly over the top of Australia in the Mail Run plane from Cairns. The plane landed on Sue Island in Torres Strait. I recall this event well, as I was sitting with the pilot, as we circled over the top of Australia. Now, I wish to have the opportunity to visit the most southerly point of the Australian mainland. I hopefully will be able to achieve this ambition, at a future date, with Geoff and the university students.
It will be magnificent to be able to look back at the lighthouse at the Prom, the National Park and the Australian mainland from the wild waters of Bass Strait. Not an adventure for the faint -hearted ………
