On March 31, 2015 I received an email from Jason Ivey, to tell me that he had found my bottle on the beach at Yeppoon, Queensland.
I was delighted to receive Jason’s email, and replied to him later that evening. I thanked him for letting me know of his find, and informed him of my You Tube, Annes’s Adventure, which is the story of my two bottles. I indicated to him, that I had posted articles on my web site annefield .net.au, and that I planned in the future to turn the story into an e -book. HJason would now be part of my story.
I also told Jason, that I would like to meet with him in Rockhampton at a later date.
On April 7, 2015 I contacted my oceanographer contact at the CSIRO in Hobart. I informed him that my bottle, which had been committed to sea at Eden on September 30,2012 has been found at Yeppoon.
He replied to me on April 8, 2015 indicating that” it is likely that my bottle made it to close to New Zealand with the prevailing wind and current ,but veered left at some point near Northern New Zealand. It is most likely to have come under the influence of the South East trade winds, and was pushed back to the Queensland Coast. “
On Wednesday April 8,2015 the story of my bottle made the Capricorn Coast newspaper . “Surprise Message in a Bottle Found On Capricorn Coast” featured in the Capricorn Coast Rockhampton Morning Bulletin. I noticed it coming up on my tracker and checked it. Wow, a surprise to read the lovely article.
My You Tube is up to 2001 views as of April 23, 2015. No doubt, views of this You Tube have flowed from the Rockhampton newspaper article.
Grannie’s bottle is still out there bobbing along. I hope that it turns up soon, as both bottles were committed to the ocean ten minutes apart, but at different locations. It has had a long journey for my Grannie’s bottle, from its initial committal into the Southern Ocean, south of West Cape Howe, and then its recommittal east of Eden.
My next” adventure “will be in 2016, when hopefully I join up with Geoff , a Bass Strait fisherman, who operates out of Port Welshpool, Victoria. We plan to launch a bottle together into Bass Strait. The contents of this bottle may be interesting…
