I am delighted to be invited today to acknowledge the 40th Anniversary of a community organisation, which is well -used by our local community .
In my role as a Kogarah Councillor, from September 1999-2008, I was Council’s representative on the Management Committee. I was a Committee member from 1999, and became the Chairperson in 2001, remaining in that position until 2008.
Over the years, Kogarah Community Services has met the demand for services in the community. I refer in particular to child care, dementia programmes, the Neighbourhood Centre, as well as social outings for the elderly.
I have had the opportunity in recent days to read the Annual Reports from 2009 . I noted from the 2013 Report, that IT infrastructure had been improved. Life is much easier now no doubt for staff.
Kogarah Community Services sits on many local Committees and Forums, and its staff members continue to upskill by attending a multitude of courses.
The organisation is continuing to meet its Mission which is “ to assist the local community by providing support, information , education and services that enhance the quality of life.”
