Raine Field (April 8, 2001- March 31, 2013 )
Raine was born on April 8 2001. Rhonda decided to call her Raine after April rain, but added an e.
Raine’s mother was Miss Fliss, a very distinguished looking dog, who died only a couple of years ago.
Raine had strong personality traits – she was a miss , a toffy -nosed dog, who would almost stick her nose in the air. Miss Raine knew what she wanted , and had a mind of her own. ( she kept my other dogs in line ) She often kept to herself – at Rhonda’s her Chin, Plato, always gave Raine a kiss. Rhonda and I always said that she named her appropriately.
She had her favourite hiding spots at home, and was very good at developing new ones . Towards the end of her life she was deaf, so this often was a challenge for me to locate her.
Harold and I collected her on September 16, 2001 at the Erskine Park dog show. Rhonda always remembers Harold, in his broad Yorkshire accent, saying to Rhonda ‘she is bloody beautiful “ Rhonda took a step backwards……
Raine was a beautiful looking dog . Sadly, in late 2011, she had to have her teeth out and this resulted in her tongue hanging out. She wore baby’s bibs to assist her so that she did not slop water and food everywhere . Whilst she had lost her good looks she was still Miss Raine.
She was a great mate to William, who arrived in my care on March 17, 2002 ( died August 6,2012) ; Angus, who arrived in my care in early December 2004, (and died on July 4, 2008 ); and to Marietta who arrived in late 2008.
Raine was a loyal, loving and devoted companion to me .She gave unconditional love. She loved her walks, and she always loved to keep me company.

I adored Raine . There will never be another Miss Raine – her personality ; her gentle snores ; and her style . She was one amazing and wonderful Cavalier.

POSTSCRIPT:
It is ironic that Baroness Thatcher passed away on Raine’s birthday . A late friend of mine, an internationally recognized hotel concierge, who had met Margaret Thatcher on many occasions, nicknamed me Maggie Thatcher many years ago . He must have seen some of her political qualities in me .
