Horse Shoe Found on the Moorefield Estate , Kogarah 61 Years After Moorefield Racecourse Closed.
Moorefield Racecourse ceased race meetings on July 14, 1951; however the course stayed open for barrier trials until mid-1955.
Residents of the Estate, who were digging near their swimming pool, which is under construction, found the silver horse shoe on Sunday April 24 , 2016.
This is a timely find, as I plan to soon launch my history of Moorefield Racecourse (1888-1951). My research has taken over 20 years.
Mr A. T McLauchlan leased the Brighton Hotel from 1932 to 1951. Recently, I had contact with members of the McLauchlan family. An elderly gentleman, from Lachal Street on the Moorefield Estate, on May 2,2016 gave me two newspaper articles from 1957.
