William –November2, 2001- August 6, 2012
William, you came to me as Tory on March 17, 2002 at the Castle Hill Showground. I wanted a companion for Raine, and that you were; a loyal and loving companion.
I decided immediately to change your name and call you William. You were called William after William Field, my great grandfather, who was born in Wakefield,Yorkshire, England in 1831.
You lived up to William’s characteristics –a real life scallywag. When you were naughty, I always called you Willie. And when you were naughty, Harold called you at the top of his voice.
I knew that you had a heart problem when I took you. This was soon remedied with a heart operation, which was done by a vet at the Animal Hospital .You recovered magnificently, and lived a wonderful life, for almost 11 years, until tumours on your windpipe so quickly and cruelly took you from me.
You were buried with a letter, which I wrote on the plane travelling from Darwin to Sydney on August 9 2012. I shed many a tear on this 4 hour flight to Sydney.
Rhonda, your second mum, and Kevin, looked after you so well when I was away on holidays.
You were initially never a loving boy, but you became one in old age. You loved Anna, and kept her company when at Rhonda’s .And, when she passed on, you loved sleeping with a number of other young female Cavaliers. Marietta slept next to you in the kennel at Rhonda’s – and in piled a number of other young female Cavaliers….You always fancied the ladies!
Food and William went together .You guzzled your food very quickly; you attempted to take food from other dogs! You loved ruffling up your bed –oh, you wanted it to suit you. And you did snore so loudly at times.
Oh, William you always had a mind of your own ….

Walking around the neighbourhood streets was a challenge, as you walked vigourously and you always barked. I could walk you with Angus McTavish,(deceased July 4 2008) and with Marietta, since October 2008. Raine has her own pace and does not like to be troubled by anyone else. She is Miss Raine.
A friend recently sent me a card .The message in it said “this symbolizes the Heaven where a young again William now runs free “
Another friend sent a card in which she said “William was a very lucky little creature to come into the world, and to be loved for by such a special person. I ‘m sure thanks to you, his 10 years here on earth were very happy ones. “
Your passing on August 6, 2012 was unexpected and so sudden. I know that you are at peace with Angus, and I know that you will be happy.
I adored you; I miss you greatly. You were a unique and beautiful animal.
