I am delighted to be here tonight to share your evening . You will tonight have the opportunity to renew acquaintances and friendships that you made all those years ago in the classroom , in the playground and in sporting teams.
I taught in the Social Science Department, St George Girls for 35 years . Conservatively , with a 900 students a year intake, over 32,400 students have passed through the school over this time.
Whilst I can’t remember the names of all my former students , your year list provides my memory with an update. It is so lovely to see those names again . I look forward ,this evening , to hearing what career directions you have taken, and what you have achieved post St George. St Georgians are located in many countries around the world. And your year is no different. You have moved in diversified directions after leaving the hallowed halls of St George Girls High School.
Tonight you celebrate your reunion tonight on the cusp of the school turning 100 in 2016 . The 100th anniversary luncheon is scheduled for July 23 2016 at Doltone House , Hyde Park . The email address is TheSt Georgians@hotmail.com
One hundred years of public education is a wonderful achievement . Academic standards remain high, and students enter into diversified academic courses in their university careers. They have the opportunity to engage in a more robust school life today – subjects , sporting teams , and club involvements. The school is very much technologically driven these days. The list of changes in the school provides you with an updated list from your last reunion. I must thank Miss Lyn Brown for her valuable assistance in allowing me to update “my notes”..

My life, post St George Girls, has now taken a creative direction . I have been fortunate to have had a teaching career , a political career ,17 years in Local Government , and now , hopefully, a writing career.
In conclusion , whatever direction our lives, yours and mine, have taken, we owe a debt of gratitude to St George Girls High School. .
